hey!
im blogging from sweden.....
it was such an eventful day today.
cos we were supposed to meet kathy, our beijing fren, at port maillot to take a bus to the airport at 11am.
after a damn long journey thru the train with me lugging my 7kg bag ard, we made it to port maillot.. but, kathy was waiting at somewhere else of the station for us...
after a few calls and long distance walking to locate her, we decide to head to the bus first.. cos ur supposed to be on the bus 3hrs ahead of ur flight at 2.15pm.
end up, we made a very big round to locate her when our bus area was very near where we were.. the irritating thing was, when we reached there, the bus leaving soon was full!!!!!
so we had to take the next bus which was only leaving in 45mins time.. what the heck lah..
we tried to reason with him, but that stupid prick just wouldnt allow!
i was so scared we would miss our flight lah!
but luckily, the bus left at 12.10pm, and we reached the airport at 1.15pm.
just enuf time to check in and grab a bite, den on board!
oh yah, another thing was that through the security checks, we realised they didnt allow any fluid in! like not even water... so i gulped down eveyrthing! *burp*
i asked the lady why was there such a stupid rule..
she said that a while back, there was a case of a liquid bomb on the plane!
so since den, no liquids allowed.. *dang*
i think its another plot of theirs to earn money..
cos once u check in, theres a food counter there selling food and drinks..
also, on the plane theres no free food..
Hotel
me and karina's staying at the Continental Hilton..
but its called the Scandic Hotels!
we had a really fantastic deal..
i mean, REALLY REALLY fantastic!
let me tell u abt it..
u see, we didnt book our accomodations b4 we arrived cos kathy's fren said got alot of places to stay..
so when we arrived, had 2 options.
1) stay in the city, very accesible to places, but expensive.
becos we're staying in 4 star hotels.
2) stay at the suburbs, close to kathy's frens place, much cheaper.
but really inaccessible, like minimum 1.5hrs from his place to town.
so, we were lugging (oops! i wasnt lugging, since kathy's fren offered to carry my bag! heehee..) and checking out prices in the city first..
for a double rm for 4 nights, 24th to the 28th morning, its average 380euros per person!!
inclusive of breakfasts and everything, but we were qt unwilling to pay so much..
walked ard 3 or 4 places, and they were all ard that prices, cos wkends are more expensive..
only 1 place was damn damn cheap! this place called CityLodge.
for a double rm, its like 70kroncs a night only, which is ard $7.80 euro, $3.90sing..
but but but, u have to leave ur shoes at the gate, have to walk ard with plastic footsies.
and its a shared bathrm with the whole floor..
furthermore, they din have rms for tonite..
so, Citylodge was eliminated..
so back to the pt, where we got our great deal..
after walking to 4 or 5 hotels, we decided that we'll just stay at the continental one, cos it looks fancy and its the cheapest among other surrounding hotels..
the 1st time we checked the price, it was $380 per person for 4 nights..
i mean, we were willing to pay that amt alr..
dis time when we went back, it was a guy at the frontdesk instead of the girl we approached..
after we confirmed our booking, i asked him the price...
expecting he would say its ard 7000 or 8000 kroncs..
oh, 1 euro = 2 sing, 1 euro = 9kroncs,
so 7000kroncs would be ard 380euros for 4 nites..
guess what our angel said!
he said total is around 6000kroncs! which was around 330euros..
it was a span of 15min where we went to other hotels only..
and the price could differ so much between each staf..
den, he said `sorry sorry, the price might be not even 6000,cos im waiting for the exchange rate to appear`
finally he told us the price would 4400 for 2 person..
so 2200kroncs each!
which is ard 244euros!!
can u imagine!!
from the initial 380 euros quoted, the price became 244 euros!
thats like $280 sing difference!
and we din even bargain or anything..
i mean, we couldnt rite?
woohoo!
even the suburbs hotel that kathy's fren checked for us is around 220 for 4 days!
and now, we're staying at a 4 star hotel for 244 euros!!!
waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa....
my heart is filled with a warm fuzzy feeling of happiness..
hang on, let me float in the cloods.. weeeeee
and we have breakfast included for all 4 days..
plus this internet rm that im at now.. where there's free internet usage.
and i see a printer beside me which seems to be free of charge and stationery ard..
there's also a sauna which karina plans to check out after my -ahem ahem- ends...
Swedes with horrible mathmatics
kathy's fren was just telling us that the Swedes' mathematics are really lousy..
like he say if u just give them 2 figure numbers to calculate..
they'll have to use their calculator alr..
i have a feeling that the counter staff used the lowest rate and just multiply by 4 for us..
cos there's actually different rates for different days..
i saw him writing down like 1100, 1700, 1700 which is like amts for different days..
but after we asked him to split the bill, he just used 1100 to multiply by 2 for each person..
wahahahahha...
Friendly Swedes
oh, and the Swedes are soooooo frenly lah!
maybe cos i've been in Paris for 1mth where the french dun really smile, dun like to speak english..
me and karina feel that the swedes are soo damn nice!
their english is perfect, no one word answers like the ones we get in france...
they actually do understand a whole sentence!
like just now, i had my dinner at Macs, den the counter lady asked me to come collect my meal after a few mins..
and when i went to collect , the food still wasnt ready..
and when my meal finally came, she told me she gave me extra fries cos i had to wait long!
wah, so nice lah...
in sgp, they just shove the food to u, saying 'have a nice meal' with such a glum face..
i have a feeling its gonna be a gooooooooooooooood trip...
oh yeah baby...
ah, its 11pm now..
feeling abit tired..
have been on a long journey since this morning 10am..
lugging my bag from a train to a bus den to another bus den to the plane den to the last bus...
ok, gonna go and bath and sleeeeeeepppppppp in a comfortable bed...
my bed in Paris creaks everytime i move in bed..

Oh Sweden....
dis fri will be our last day of sch b4 our WINTER break!!!
having hols from feb 24-mar4!
woohooo!
all my nyp yr 3 frens can have fun studying while we go holidaying!
ahhhhh...... life is gd =)
so, me and karina will be going to Sweden from feb 24-28!
we'll be going with our Beijing fren..
she has frens there!
actually we were supposed to go to Finland too...
but......... we have a class trip on mar 1..
so no choice,have to skip finland to come back to paris.
i checked the weather in sweden, just to know what type of clothes to bring over!
and holey moley...
it'll be negative degrees there!
i think i'll be seeing snowwwww...
weeeeeeee...
after coming back from Sweden, we'll be going for our class trip to Brussels from mar1-2 for our European module..
but that trip will be qt boring since there's like 5hrs of lectures each day, leaving us with very lil time to sightsee and stuff..
bammmm wham wham...
but at least,it was rather cheap..
108 euros for 2 way train tix + accomodation of 3 pple to a rm!

Bonne Chinois Nouvelle Year!

haha, my weak attempt in saying happy chinese new year in french..
i hope its correct...
anw, on Feb 18, Chinese New Yr 1st day..
we went with the Beijing people to celebrate CNY by eating Chinese food!
initial plan was for a homecooked dinner..
but something cropped up.. *dang*
we ate at this "Xing Xin" restaurant located at Grands Boulevard Metro station.. (can u see my new bag?)
they had qt a variety of food there...
had har gao, siew mai, dumplings, fried rolls and many dishes to choose from!
the 4 of us were so excited and ordered so much food!
total was abt 33euros for 4 of us!
but it was all worthwhile...
yums yums..
me and karina abided the "new yr must wear red" rule!

Catholic cathedral up on the hill, where u get a great view of the whole of Paris.
This cathedral is like a tourist place and a church combined into one. Its magnificent, evidently so in the pics... Really breathtaking...

Of french teaching...
Hey! its been only 4 days since i last blogged..
but it seems so damn long...
have been to so many places these past few days..
althou i dun blog abt it,but i do have loads of piccas..
wait till my mood is here den i'll blog abt it.
up till now, i've seen the Louvre, Eiffel from a distance, Chinatown, "Little India", Galeries La Fayette, Printemp, Basilique du Sacre Ceur...

anw, abt my point on french teachings..
during one of my intercultural classes, my teacher was talking abt how HEAVEN & HELL would be like..
oh yah, my teacher's name is Micky and she's a female!!

another hilarious incident was when my teacher, Mr. Bobot (i love his name!), was teaching us abt int'l negotiations...he kept implying the word "focus", but everyone couldnt stop giggling!
reason: his "focus" sounded more like "far-kers"!!!
yup, kindda horrible huh?
and, he couldnt really say "lawyers" too! kept sayin as "low-wers" or smth liddat!
but the whole education culture is so diff from sgp..
like we have ZERO tutorials
but all lessons are ard 3 hrs lectures
however, its more interactive and students just voice out their thots as and when...
maybe its becos the french like to talk...
okok... time for me to hit the sack alr!
im sucha goodie here.. sleeping at 11 plus 12!!
so different from my normal 3am routine in sgp..

hey my beloved frens and foes, glad to let ur know that my nauseating period is over...
im eating more regularly now..
thou its still only 2 meals..
breakfast and late lunch or breakfast and early dinner!
im being influenced by my roomie, Karina!
eating more and more fruits everyday!
an example of our nightly fruits fiesta!
since u guys were so worried abt me, what with stayin "bubbly bubbly" , "not getting malnutritioned", "looking gaunt like shariann and kyndi", i better not get any remarks abt me looking "happier" , "too nutritioned", "more like god of wealth" when i come back!!!
